October 10, 2024 Dear Clio Parents and Guardians: I am writing to inform you of an incident that occurred today at Clio Middle School. At approximately 11:55 AM, the building was placed in secure mode due to a credible threat by a student to a staff member in the main office. Upon receiving this information, we immediately implemented our safety response protocols and contacted our local law enforcement authorities. We worked closely with the Clio City Police Department and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. Due to our staff's training, they were able to de-escalate and safely address the incident. At no time were any other students in harm’s way as our main office is always locked and secured. As the investigation is ongoing, no further details can be provided at this time; however, we want to ensure that parents are made aware of instances in which we must respond to concerning behavior and implement our safety protocols, while also protecting the rights of individual students. We will continue to work with local law enforcement regarding this situation. Please be assured the safety of students and staff will always remain our top priority at Clio Area Schools. We appreciate our continued partnership with law enforcement, families, and our school community to keep our students safe. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you, Lisa Taylor Superintendent
There will be NO After the Bell on 10/8 and 10/15. Enjoy your day.
