There is something special happening across Clio Area Schools. From the excitement in our classrooms and the smiles in our hallways to our students representing Clio through athletics, activities, and so much more, the first week has been an incredible reminder of what it means to be a Mustang.
And what a way to cap off the week! 🏈 Our Mustang football team earned an impressive 58–0 victory over Mt. Morris yesterday! Congratulations to our players, coaches, cheerleaders, student section, band, families, and everyone who came out to fill the stands and support our students.
But this picture represents so much more than one football game or one victory. It represents community. It represents students supporting one another, families showing up, staff pouring their hearts into what they do, and an entire school district coming together around our kids.
To our Clio families, be proud to be a Mustang! There is so much to be excited about this year, the opportunities ahead, the people who make our schools special, and a community that continues to show up for one another. And we're only getting started.
Thank you to our students, staff, families, and community for making our first week one to remember. Here's to an incredible school year ahead, the friendships that will be made, the lessons that will be learned, the challenges that will be overcome, the accomplishments we will celebrate, and the memories that will last a lifetime.
The 2026–27 school year is officially underway, and we can't wait to see what our Mustangs accomplish together. 🧡🖤
Once a Mustang, Always a Mustang.

🧡🖤 End of the Day Communication Reminder
We know plans can change! To help ensure every student gets where they need to be safely at dismissal, please communicate any end of day transportation or pick-up changes to your child’s school at least one hour before dismissal.
Our school offices need time to receive your message, communicate the change to the appropriate staff, and make sure your child receives the correct information before the busy dismissal process begins. Last minute changes increase the chance that important information may not reach everyone in time.
Please make note of the deadline for your child’s school:
Clio Early Elementary – 2:45 PM
Clio Elementary – 2:30PM
Clio Intermediate – 2:45 PM
Clio Middle School – 1:20 PM
Clio High School – 1:30 PM
Clio Community High School – 1:30 PM
Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe, organized, and smooth for every Mustang! 🧡🖤

📱 Haven’t Logged Into Rooms Yet? Let’s Get You Connected!
Clio families, if you haven’t downloaded the Clio Schools App or logged into Rooms yet, now is a great time to get connected!
Rooms is our district-wide communication platform this school year and replaces ClassDojo. This is where families can stay connected with their child’s teachers and receive important classroom communication.
Getting started is easy:
1. 📲 Download or update the Clio Schools App.
Already have the app from last year? Be sure to check the App Store or Google Play Store for an update. Some families have reported that Rooms did not appear until the app was updated.
2. ⚙️ Open the app and tap the gear icon in the top-right corner.
3. 🔐 Select Sign In and use your phone number or email address to log in.
4. 🏫 Once you’re signed in, select Rooms at the bottom. It should take you directly to your children’s classes.
Important: You may see “Rooms” in the app before signing in, but you must be signed in to access your child’s information.
If you haven’t gotten connected yet, please take a few minutes to download/update the app and sign in. We want to make sure every Clio family is connected and doesn’t miss important communication from their child’s school and teachers.
Once you’re connected, Rooms will make it easier to keep school communication all in one place.

The start of a new school year is just around the corner, and we can't wait to welcome our Mustang families back to school! Open House is the perfect opportunity to meet teachers, explore classrooms, learn about the upcoming school year, and get excited for an amazing year ahead.

As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, Clio Schools is preparing families for new expectations surrounding student cell phones and personal communication devices during the school day.
These changes align with Michigan’s new cell phone law and are designed around a simple goal: keeping students focused, engaged, and ready to learn.
Beginning this school year, students will be expected to keep cell phones and other personal communication devices off, put away, and out of sight during instructional time, from the first bell to the last bell.
We know staying connected with your child is important. Families will always be able to contact students through the school office, and students will have access to a school phone when needed.
We appreciate the partnership of our students, families, and staff as we work together to create classrooms with fewer distractions and more opportunities for learning.
🧡🖤 Go Mustangs!

A proud Clio graduate, Valerie grew up in the Clio community and currently resides in Grand Blanc. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Cleary University, where she was also a member of the women’s soccer team. After discovering her passion for supporting children and families, Valerie pursued her Master of Social Work and became a Certified School Social Worker.
Valerie brings a variety of experience supporting students and families. She previously worked with Holly Area Schools as a Behavioral Interventionist, Social Work Intern, and Elementary School Social Worker. She also served as a Social Worker at Brighton Middle School and has worked as an outpatient mental health therapist, providing support to children and adults. Returning to a school setting has been a longtime goal for Valerie, and she is especially excited to do so in her hometown.
Outside of work, Valerie enjoys spending time with friends, family, her fiancée, and their pets. She continues to play soccer, enjoys lifestyle photography, and loves traveling, hiking, exploring parks, attending concerts, and watching movies. She is also a big football fan and enjoys cheering on Michigan, the Detroit Lions, and the Buffalo Bills.

The digital world is constantly changing, and many of the apps our children use every day include features that allow them to connect with strangers, share their location, send disappearing messages, or access inappropriate content.
While many of these apps have legitimate uses, it's important for parents to understand the potential risks and have regular conversations with their children about staying safe online.
Take a few minutes to review our "Know the Apps" guide and ask your child:
• What apps are you using?
• Who are you talking to online?
• Do you know how to report or block someone?
• Are your privacy settings turned on?
💡 Remember:
• Keep devices in common areas when possible.
• Review privacy and location settings together.
• Talk about what to do if someone online makes them uncomfortable.
• Remind children to never share personal information, passwords, photos, or their location with someone they don't know.
• Keep the conversation open, supportive, and judgment-free so they'll come to you if something doesn't feel right.
Technology changes quickly, but staying involved is one of the best ways to keep our students safe.
🧡 Together, we can help our Mustangs make smart, safe choices both in and out of the classroom.
Note: Apps and online platforms change frequently. The presence of an app on this guide doesn't necessarily mean it's unsafe for every user, but it may include features that parents should be aware of. We encourage families to review apps together and use them responsibly.
